At the foot of Mont Ventoux, in the heart of Provence Château set in 30 hectares to renovate
This château in the heart of Provence, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, has authentic charm and offers a real art of living in a preserved, bucolic setting. It nestles on a south-facing slope, offering a magnificent view of the Mont Ventoux massif, classified as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
Protected from the Mistral, the château enjoys a pleasant climate with plenty of sunshine and cool evenings. It is just a few minutes from a well-known Provencal village, blending harmoniously into a wooded, undulating landscape, with a commanding view over the plain and surrounding mountains.
The property is easily accessible, just 25 minutes from motorway links, 45 minutes from Avignon TGV station and 1h20 from Marseille international airport.
Vineyard
The 30-hectare estate includes an AOP Ventoux organic-certified vineyard covering more than 11 hectares, with grape varieties including Grenache, Syrah, Grenache Blanc and Clairette.
The vineyard, situated at an altitude of 400 metres, benefits from cooler nights in summer due to the marked heat exchange. The soil is rich in gravel, making it ideal for producing quality wines.
The well-defined plots are easy to work, but the vines will need to be restructured and renovated.
The remainder of the land is mainly woodland with truffle trees, an old orchard and a magnificent wooded park.
Château
The château was built by the local nobility, with records dating back to the 2nd century. Its name was changed in the 16th and 18th centuries, and has remained the same ever since. Currently owned by the same family for generations, its architecture dates back to the late 18th century, with a main façade enhanced by two rectangular towers.
The grounds include period features such as a stone well, a wash-house and ashlar walls and benches.
The castle spans approx. 500 m² (5,305 sq ft) over 3 stories, with vaulted cellars on the garden level, living areas on the first floor and sleeping areas on the second floor.
It faces magnificent parklands planted with large plane, pine and oak trees.
In terms of facilities, the estate has a good mains water supply, a connection to the mains sewage system and a spring to be rehabilitated. Heating is provided by an oil-fired boiler.
Outbuildings
The farmhouse, situated to the rear of the castle with its own access, spans a total surface area of approx. 580 m² (5,860 sq ft).
It comprises two farm dwellings awaiting renovation, two vaulted rooms totalling 150 m² (1,615 sq ft), a farm barn and two outbuildings.
There is no wine-making cellar on the property; the wines are vinified and matured by a local cooperative winery.
